Hello students!
For blog #4, I would like you to imagine this situation and write a paragraph or an essay on the following topic:
You have been given $10,000, but you can't keep the money! You must give the money to a person, a group of people, or a charity (an organization that helps people, animals, or the environment, etc.). You may choose to give all of your money to one person or group. On the other hand, perhaps you want to give a portion of the money to one person, a portion of the money to a group of people, and another amount of money to a charity. The only rule is that you must spend all of the money!
After thinking about this situation, clearly explain who you will give the money to, what you want the person or group to do with the money, and why you want the person or group to have the money. Write a clear topic sentence, use lots of examples and support, and write a strong conclusion sentence. Finally, if you can, write a "clincher statement," which is a final opinion, suggestion, or comment (sometimes the clincher statement and the conclusion are the same sentence).
This blog begins with the initial post on March 11th. After one week, begin your follow-up comments to other students beginning March 18. This blog will end on March 24th at midnight.

Hi! I’m Momoko, new Japanese student. It’s my first posting comments! I want to tell you about if I’ve been given $10,000, who I will want to give the money to. I want to give the money to an animal shelter in Japan to save protected animals and I want the animal shelter to use money for improving bad situation of there. I will give you three reasons and some examples. At first, I have a dream I want to save animals going to kill in the animal shelter. I like animals so much, and I had a dog, so since I was a junior high school student, I’ve always thought how I can help these animals. Second, animals protected by the animal center are going to be killed day by day. For instance, the total number of killed animals in the animal shelter in Japan amounted to about 280000 a year, 700-800 a day. It’s such a horrible report. Why were they abandoned by people? Actually, they were left by some reasons; people get tired having animals or move out their house or animals didn’t take to them. Besides they are killed by carbon dioxide because of the animal shelter saving money. Finally, I want these animals to be stayed alive in the animal shelter, and then they can meet wonderful people taking care of them. Animals are our family, friends. We cannot abandon them. Therefore, I want to give the money to an animal shelter in Japan, and I want there to use the money efficiently and to look after them enough.

DeleteI agree with your idea. Because I have and love my dog, too. So, I think that such animals are poor very much and such masters who get tired having animals or move their hoses are very irresponsible and stupid.
Spending money on such animals is reasonable and I sincerely hope that your thought that more animals alive a long time in shelter will come true. And we should make comfortable places for such animals.

Hello! I am Ami from Japan. If I have been given $10,000, I would give all of my money to an organization that helps reconstruction in Tohoku. As you know, a big earthquake struck Japan two years ago. The Tohoku region sufferd especially heavy damage. However, the disaster affected other areas as well. My hometown, which is in Miyagi, was also effected. Fortunately, my house is located far from the sea, so we were not as heavily affecyed as some. However, my friend's house, school, and favorite place to hang out destroy by the tsunami. The places I had always known were changed forever. That same year, I went to Utatsu city, which suffered the heviest damage, in order to help victims. There were lots of boats on the road, and most of the buildings in this area had disappeared. I was moved, but then I thought of the victims who felt more pain than me. However, they were always laughing, and they treated me kindly. I was given courage from the victims rather than I helped them. A year later, I visited Utatsu city again. Although, the town still was in bad condition, people who lived there were always laughing and kind as before. For those who gave me courage, I want an organization to use all of my money. These victims live in tenporary housing in Utatsu city, so they need comfortable houses in which they can sleep soundly, and keep safe. Moreover, there are few public institutions, so an organization needs to rebuild them. If the city is restored as it used to be, the people will smile in heart. I hope that a beautiful city comes back, and people can live happly again. That's why, I decided to give my money to an organization.

DeleteI really agree with your opinion. The earthquake that attacked Japan two years ago gave the biggest shock to us ever. However, the people living in the Tohoku district feel more painful so that we cannot to imagine it, so we have to make every possible effort to help them as Japanese. It seems to still take time until Tohoku completely revives, but I want to continue support to Tohoku.

ReplyDeleteEverybody love money, but sometime we can't keep lots of money because we should give some money to other person or group. If I have $10,000, I will give all to orphanage. Because I think helped young children study some subjects in orphanage was the most significant thing when I was in high school. Their lives are lack of love, and they hope have more love. But they don’t have enough money to do anything. In my opinion, if I give all money to orphanage, maybe they can hire a good teacher or buy some their favorite food. On the other hand, they are smart and independent. Let me give you an example, they are very young, but their heart can distinguish who is bad person quickly and they can do many things by themselves. Such as clean their bed every day and wash the clothes. In my country, most people think young children look like small sun. Because they think children are creator of the future. Therefore, in my point of view, I should give all money to orphanage and it is a meaningful thing for me. In the long run, if we make orphan feel love, when they grow up, they will think life is warm. All in all, if I have $10,000, I think give all to orphanage is the best choice for me. If you go to the orphanage, maybe you will do that like me.

DeleteHello everyone.I'm Kazufumi Kaneko.If I have been given ＄10,000,I would give all money to my parents.I have two reason why I give it for my parents.First,I know it costs too much to bring up a child.In Japan, it is said that the expence of bringing up and educational expences from birth to guraduation of university are about ＄300,000.Futhermore I have two brother,in other words, my parents brougt up three children.I'm sure they spent a lot of money for us.In addition, I'm just going to study abroad.For one year, it costs the ten thousands of dollars.It's amazing.

Firstly, my father has been taking care of me since I was born. he always took me many enjoyable places for example baseball Stadiums, delicious restaurants, travels, and Guam. Being with him made me happy exactly, so I had always great time though he scolded me for my bad movement. I think that such time is very important and appreciate him very much.
Secondly, my father spent much money on me about education expenditure. I can learn anything to be interested in, thanks to my father. It is said that Japanese education expenditure is more expensive in comparison other countries. Because it cost $10,000 a one year in junior high school, high school, and university. That is to say that he paid about $ 90,000 for me till now. Without father' help, I can not go to any school.
In conclusion, I feel that my father is kind of me and loves me. Also I like, respect,and appreciate him very much. It is naturally that if I have been given $10,000, I would give all of the money to him including everything. And I want him to use the money freely for his hobby; playing golf, traveling, and buying cigarette. This is the my best plan.

If I have been given $10,000,I will give all money to my parents.
I have three reasons.
First, I love my family.It is my happiness that My family bocome happy. I dont think money can buy happiness by all means. But I think that the happiness comes by money. And I dont have enough money for another person.
Second, My parents are best person as far as I know. They know how to spend money good ways. I do not want to give money to other person. Even if it is a charity organization. Because,I heard a news. Some NPO misappropriated most of fund raising for earthquake disaster construction. I have not trusted NPO since.
Third, my parents cared for me until now. In japan, average child care expenses(0-20years old) are $100,000. But in my case, I came to study abroad in US. so I give enormous torouble to my parents.

I find that there is surprising point in your blog. Because some NPO misappropriated most of fund raising for earthquake disaster contraction, although we trusted and paid for NPO voluntarily. So, this news shocked me.

They maybe get a little money or food from people or the food bank, but that is not enough for the whole month. I'm sure that $10,000 is going to help them not just for a month but maybe for their whole life. When I gave it to them, I would like to give them advice. I will ask them to make a good plan to spend this amount in the right way. For example, they may do business with this money. It doesn't matter if the business is big or small. The only matters how this business will work. Over the time, I believe that their business will become bigger and bigger. For me, the most thing that make me happy is to help people who need that help. You can see that $10,000 might change poor people's life.

I learned about poverty at the university, and I knew the cruel situation of the African poverty problem at that time. In fact, one child dies for three seconds even now. The cause is that children cannot take in enough nutrition, and especially cannot treat for diseases such as malaria. This disease that is able to cure if children receive appropriate medical treatment. However, they do not have enough money to receive such a treatment. I think it’s the biggest problem for African children. Therefore, I want to contribute the money so that children to can take medicine and can be vaccinated. And also I want African people to create good medicine for children using the money. Actually, I think our financial help is necessary to save the life of African children. At the same time, it is important that we teach method to make environment for them to receive better medical treatment. I really hope that all African children can live with a smile.

I also think we have to use all money for them. African children have a right they alive as much us. Firstly is I think in mountainous area life will be hard, They don't have enough money to raise their child, for example, children need clothes,food,and education,and so on. So they must be hard up.Children need go to school to get a good education, have a good job, some orphanage didn't let children go to school, because they are poor person.The govenment sometimes didn't relive them. So the mountainous area need ours money,Like we can bulid a genery school for them. Secondly chirdren probably will get sike, but the fee for hospital is so expensive, we usually can see he child ask people for money on TV. To sum up, the children in the mountainous area, them don't have new clothes, enough food, some of them eat meat once a year,some children wil sick untill they died,some of them didn't know words,letters, they never know it,some of them didn't see the car, to the extent that they don't have a really house, so thay need our attention, need ours money,that's why I give money to them.

ReplyDeleteif I have been given $10,000, I will give it to my friend, a poor family, and an orphanage in my city because they are close to my heart. First, I will give $ 3000 to my friend Sami; he lives in a small house in west of Riyadh, and he is a student at King Saud University, every day he takes a taxi to go to his class, so when I give him this money, I will suggest him to buy a good car to use it every day Because the Taxi fare is expensive these days. Second, I will give $4000 to a poor family near our house in my city Riyadh, I think they deserve to eat good food, wear nice clothes, and have entertainment things. I want to see their children to feel happy as others children. Third, I will give $3000 to an orphanage in Riyadh. I visited it 3 years ago with my friends, I was a volunteer from my high school to play with the kids and do some funny things to make them laugh. So now, I am thinking to go again to them when I go back to Saudi Arabia next year to see some kids because they are like my family. And, I will suggest the orphanage to spend the money on a good way. Such as take the kids to see some famous cities in Saudi Arabia or go the west coast of Saudi Arabia to see the Red Sea. Hi, Faisal! I'm Momoko. I agree with your idea that you give your money to your friend who take a taxi every day to go to the university. I cannot imagine taking a taxi to go to the school. Too expensive! Why I agree with you is that your idea is realistic, and sounds feasible. We hardly decide to give our fortune to our familiar people. When we get a lot of money somehow, we are liable to give it to those people who we don't know or to charities. I think that is a great idea, and makes the poor people happy, but we shouldn't only give the money, but also help them directly by using it.

Hi Momoako, i think taking a taxi to go to school it's hard , so my idea was to help my friend because my city doesn't have a line bus if we have that he will be fine, but taxi fare is expensive and he will spend a lot of money for going to school.

But here is the answer for my idea, i ought to choose the good family because not all the poor people are poor. for example, there are many people acting like they are poor and they aren't, so i will choose the family who deserve this money such as a family who can't find food to eat or liquid to drink so they can make many changes and protect their life from the death.

Firstly,my favorite school is my high school. I have many memories about it. Such as my high school life, my members of the school soccer team, many funny things on the classroom.Also about my first love.
Secondly,i want my high school get better.If I have benn given $10,000, I can use this money for my high school buy a lot of educational facilities. And update some old educational facilities. And the most important thing is--to build an indoor soccer field. Because we have a lot of time in the summer training, but summer always raining. so i hope my high school have build an indoor soccer field, then new team members can training in indoor.
So i think, if i got $10,000, i can do many things for my high school,and not only these. I love my high school.

ReplyDeleteI am chad. Today I want to talk about that if I can get $10000 what I will do. I think $10000 can do a lot of things. I am going to share the money with some people that really need help. Every time when I go though the market, I saw some pauper just sit on the floor. The sight of them full all about sad and helpless. I think these people need more help. I want to buy some they really need, like hot food, water, or clothes. I also give them some money. However, I think it is not enough to help them to become rich person. I think it is will give them some chance to change their the present life. In these people, someone maybe lose their family. But I want to let them to know that they are not loser, it only he worst of times of their life. Everything will be good and some people are still really help them. I think maybe many people are need help. but $10000 can not help all of them. At least, I can help some people. That’s all.
